Adam Freeman bailed twice in a week after alleged hotel damages

In January 2020, our client was charged with possess prohibited drug and possess restricted, whilst he was on parole for a large commercial quantity drug manufacture offence. For more information, see: Kings Cross identity Adam Freeman jailed over 19kg ecstasy drug haul, ABC News, 27 October 2014.

He was granted bail but was then charged again two days later with intentionally damage property after he allegedly smashed up a hotel room in Bondi whilst under the influence of drugs.

Hanna Legal made a release application on behalf of our client at the Waverley Local Court, arguing that it would be in the community’s interests for him to be released to a drug rehabilitation rather than remaining in custody.  The application was successful and our client was released on bail.

In a news article published about the application, senior solicitor Abbas Soukie was quoted as saying the following:

“‘Substance abused is a national problem and prisons are not always equipped to rehabilitate users through a lifestyle of abstinence. … “The intervention program Mr Freeman will undertake is robust and vigorous, benefiting not only him but the wider community.”

Our criminal lawyers subsequently represented our client at his sentence proceedings, where it was successfully argued that a community-based order be imposed.
