Australians ripped off in cyber sting as police reveal criminals hack into webcams to spy

In March 2014, our client was arrested and charged with 93 fraud and cybercrime offences, including:

  • Dishonestly obtain financial advantage by deception, contrary to section 192E of the Crimes Act 1900;
  • Dealing with identity information to commit indictable offence, contrary to section 192J of the Crimes Act 1900;
  • Dealing with proceeds of crime with intent to conceal, contrary to section 193B(1) of the Crimes Act 1900; and
  • Unauthorised function with intent to commit serious offence (computer hacking), contrary to section 308H of the Crimes Act 1900.
