On 2 March 2011, a family of six were arrested and charged with various offences, including, affray, assault police officer and resist police officer. For more information, see: Officer assaulted in high school brawl before crowd invades police station, Sydney Morning Herald, 3 March 2011.
Hanna Legal represented the six defendants at a Local Court hearing in August 2011. Some of the defendants were found not guilty of all of their charges, while the remaining defendants were found not guilty of some charges but guilty of others.
We then appealed to the District Court against the convictions of those who were found guilty. All of the appeals were successful and our clients were acquitted of all remaining charges.
We then successfully applied for the prosecution to pay our clients’ legal costs.
