In November 2019, our client was arrested and charged after he shot at a man in Horsley with a Smith and Wesson 9mm pistol. He was charged with several offences, including, discharge firearm with intent to cause grievous bodily harm, contrary to section 33A(1)(a) Crimes Act 1900. The offence carries a maximum penalty of 25 years imprisonment.
Hanna Legal represented our client at his jury trial before the Wollongong District Court in December 2020, where it was argued on his behalf that he had acted in self-defence. In a spectacular result, the jury returned verdicts of not guilty after less than an hour of deliberating.
