In July 2014, our client was one of five persons charged over the contract killing of a Crown witness in April 2011.
Our client pleaded not guilty to the offence of accessory to murder and Hanna Legal represented her at her by jury trial that ran from April to June 2016 at the Supreme Court of NSW.
At the conclusion of the prosecution evidence, an application was made on behalf of our client for a directed verdict of not guilty. The application was successful and his Honour Justice Adams directed the jury to find her not guilty of the offence of murder. For more information, see: ‘Killer for hire’ allegedly murdered witness as retribution: court, Sydney Morning Herald, 18 April 2016.
Following her acquittal, Hanna Legal successfully applied for the State to pay her legal costs. To read the decision of the Supreme Court of New South Wales, see: R v Christine Saliba [2016] NSWSC 1838.
