Weapons charges withdrawn against mosque caretaker

In February 2017, our client was charged with two charges relating to his alleged possession of a bullet proof vest and a flick knife. The offences were:

  • Possess a prohibited weapon, contrary to section 7 of the Weapons Prohibition Act 1998 (x 2); and
  • Possess a prohibited weapon in contravention of a weapons prohibition order, contrary to section 34 of the Weapons Prohibition Act 1998 (x 2).

For more information, see: Mohammed Elzamtar, 60, charged with weapons offences, The Daily Telegraph, 8 February 2017.

Our criminal lawyers engaged in negotiations with the prosecution, which led to all of the charges against our client being withdrawn and dismissed.
