In July 2022, our client was charged with recklessly destroy/ damage property contrary to section 195(1)(a) of the Crimes Act 1900. After an ongoing neighbourhood dispute, our client was said to have cause significant damage to a neighbour’s vehicle who was allegedly parked in his car park.
After receiving advice from our solicitor at Hanna Legal, our client pleaded guilty to the charge and went before the Downing Centre Local Court for sentencing.
With the assistance of Hanna Legal in preparing letters to the court, negotiating the facts sheet and making oral submissions, the Magistrate ultimately decided to dismiss the matter. This is the lowest form of punishment in the criminal justice system. This resulted in our client avoiding a criminal conviction and our client was not ordered to pay for any of the damages.
