Man avoids prison for robbery charges

In June 2022, our client was charged with the following offences:

  • Robbery in company, contrary to section 97 of the Crimes Act 1900;
  • Robbery, contrary to section 94 of the Crimes Act 1900;
  • Common assault, contrary to section 61 of the Crimes Act 1900;
  • Stalk/intimidate, contrary to section 13 of the Crimes Act 1900

Our criminal lawyers engaged in negotiations with the prosecution, which resulted in all of the charges being withdrawn except for the robbery simpliciter charge.  We also negotiated a statement of agreed facts containing several important concessions from the police which lowered our client’s role significantly.

Hanna Legal represented the man at his sentence proceedings in the Local Court, where it was successfully argued that he be allowed to remain in the community on a Community Correction Order.
