In October 2022, the police applied for an apprehended domestic violence order (ADVO) against our client. The police did this after receiving a complaint that our client had assaulted her partner at a party however the allegation had been made not by our client’s partner but rather a third party who was extremely intoxicated and who had been arguing with our client.
After receiving the brief of evidence and assisting our client with her written statement in reply, our criminal lawyers made representations to the police for the ADVO application to be withdrawn.
After extensive negotiations, our lawyers persuaded the police to withdraw the application, which formally took place at the Sutherland Local Court on 5 December 2022.
