Convicted murderer granted bail

On 22 February 2023, our client was charged with various domestic violence offences, including threatening to kill his ex-partner, contrary to s 13(1) of the Crimes (Domestic and Personal Violence) Act 2007 (NSW). Our client had previously served a twenty-one year custodial sentence for murder.

On 17 March 2023, Hanna Legal, instructing Senior Counsel, made a bail application on behalf of our client in the Supreme Court of NSW. Our criminal lawyers drafted detailed submissions which reduced any bail concerns the Court had, including the risk of our client leaving the country, committing further offences, and endangering the safety of others.

The Court accepted our submissions and ultimately decided to grant our client conditional bail despite the fact our client had a lengthy history of violence offences.
