Man granted bail for drug supply offences allegedly committed while awaiting sentence

On 2 June 2023, our client was charged with various offences, including:

  • Supplying a prohibited drug, contrary to section 25(1) of the Drug Misuse and Trafficking Act 1985 (3 counts);
  • Dealing with property suspected of being proceeds of crime, contrary to section 193C of the Crimes Act 1900; and
  • Possessing a prohibited weapon, contrary to section 7 of the Weapons Prohibition Act 1998.

The alleged offences were committed while our client was already waiting to be sentenced for an unrelated drug matter committed three months earlier.

Hanna Legal applied for bail on behalf of the man at the Wollongong Local Court, where we persuaded the Magistrate that it was appropriate for conditional bail to be granted.
