Queensland jury finds man not guilty of choking

In July 2020, our client was charged with choking his then wife without consent, contrary to section 315A(1)(a) Criminal Code 1899 (Qld).

Our client pleaded not guilty, arguing that his wife had fabricated the claim against him to enable her to take the couple’s children interstate to start a new life with a man with whom she was having an affair.

In the lead up to the trial, our criminal lawyers issued various subpoenas, which led to numerous documents being produced that supported the defence case.

Hanna Legal represented our client at his trial at the District Court of Queensland in August and September 2022.

Remarkably, the jury took only 28 minutes to return a verdict of not guilty.
